Congratulations to our undergraduate student Pablo Torres Campos for presenting his poster "Nest-site characteristics, diet, and activity patterns of the Peters's squirrel" at the XXVII International Course Biological Bases of Behavior in Morelia, Michoacán.
The poster presented the results of the study conducted for the Verano de la Ciencia Región Centro 2022, with the participation of the undergraduate students: Pablo Torres, Ximena Zamora and Diego Aznar, and supervised by Dr. Nicolás Ramos-Lara. Congratulations to Dr. María de la Soledad del Río for presenting her research on Vineyard Geolocation at the 43th International Meeting on vines and wine. Her work is being done in collaboration with the Wine Cluster of Querétaro.
Congratulations to our undergraduate student, Daniel Castañeda Ruan (Biological Sciences Junior), for presenting his research project at the XXII Congreso Mexicano de Botánica this week. His poster was titled: "Creación de un catálogo preliminar de especies de plantas de Arkansas State University en Querétaro, México, con la ayuda de la plataforma Naturalista." Daniel has been working intensively on this project with the support and supervision of Dr. Javier Miguelena.

This year, Arkansas State University - Campus Querétaro - will participate in the 24th edition of the Verano de la Ciencia de la Región Centro for the first time. Undergraduate students, Alfredo Mendoza Mendoza from Universidad Politécnica de San Luis Potosí, and Kenya Villanueva García from Instituto Tecnológico de Celaya, will be visiting us to work on projects. At the same time, ASUCQ undergraduate students Javier Aguirre González and Natalia Estrada Hernández will be visiting Universidad Politécnica de Querétaro and Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro, respectively. In addition, undergraduate students Edna Arciga Contreras, Miren Ugarte Maldonado, Diego Aznar Cruz, Pablo Torres Campos, and Ximena Zamora Prieto will work on internal projects with ASUCQ professors. The International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) competition is a worldwide synthetic biology competition that was initially aimed at undergraduate university students, but has since expanded to include divisions for high school students, entrepreneurs, and community laboratories.
In 2021 a new format of the competition was launched: iGEM Design League, specifically aimed at Latin America. This year, Arkansas State University - Campus Querétaro - has entered the iGEM Design League competition for the first time. Our team consists of recently-graduated alumni and undergraduate students. The competition kick-off took place on June 25th and will end by late November / early December. Congratulations Dr. Juarez and Dr. Velazquez for their most recent publication “Lifshitz black holes in four-dimensional critical gravity”, in the prestigious “Physical Review D”, of the American Physical Society.

Congratulations to our alumni Ximena Vargas, Wendy Mandujano, Isaac Augusto Reyes, and Luisa Fernanda González who participated in the "SOMIXXXV y 1er Simposio Nacional de Biosensores" with the project: Biosíntesis de nanopartículas de plata (AgNPs) y su uso potencial como alternativa a métodos convencionales de síntesis. The project was supervised by MSc. Bárbara González and Dr. Fermando Belmont.
Congratulations to Dr. Miguel García-Ariza (Professor of Mathematics) and Dr. Miguel Oseguera-Toledo (Professor of Chemistry) for being awarded the distinction of National Researchers, Level I, by Conacyt's National System of Researchers (SNI).
Congratulations to our recently graduated alumni Ximena Vargas-Estrada, Sofía Alfaro-Cortés, and Sebastián Carrillo-Aguilar. Their project, lead by Dr. Bernardo Pérez, has been accepted to be presented at the 13th Annual Gulf Coast Undergraduate Research Symposium held at Rice University. This event is open to undergraduate students from all around the World.
In particular, Ximena Vargas will give the talk: "Ribosome dissociation observed during Minigene expression in E. coli might be related to translation speed and ribosome stalling during general gene translation", in the BioSciencesBCB section of the symposium. Congratulations to Dr. Abril Suárez, who has been selected to have a capsule in the “Women in Space” event in the context of the celebration of the World Space Week.
Congratulations to our students Ximena Vargas, Fernanda González, Wendy Mandujano, and Isaac Sánchez. Their work: “Biosynthesis of Silver Nanoparticles (AgNPs) and their potential use as an alternative to conventional synthesis methods” has been accepted for presentation at the SOMI XXXV Instrumentation Conference (SOMI XXXV Congreso de Instrumentación).
